About

Humbly walking in the footsteps of renowned medical illustrators, like Leonardo da Vinci, Frank Netter, and Andreas Vesalius, while leveraging digital technology, comes forth the modern online nBIG gallery. This is a monumental effort compiling over 8,600 images of the human brain extended to the head and neck reconstructed in 3D, devotedly structured, parcellated, and labeled.

Upon entering, one finds themselves submerged in an anatomic and artistic world of the beautiful brain. This "now-in-brain" experience accompanies you throughout all the galleries.

NOWinBRAIN, established by Prof. Wieslaw L. Nowinski, is a repository of brain-related material, with its current key component being the nBIG (Nowinski Brain Image Gallery) in a form of an expandable and systematic image gallery. The nBIG is a one-of-a-kind brain gallery. To Nowinski's best knowledge, there is no such comprehensive, systematic, extensive, and beautiful digital image gallery of a living normal human brain reconstructed in 3D, available to the public.

Its creator and curator, Prof. Wieslaw L. Nowinski, is a brain scientist, innovator, pioneer, visionary, entrepreneur, and science-medicine-art "bridge builder". His journey is captured here.

Beyond being a labor of love, NOWinBRAIN is a humble contribution to the centuries of work by other neuroanatomists from history, adding to the advancement of science and man’s understanding of the human brain. It is also Prof. Nowinski’s gift of his own brain, so that fellow scientists, medical students, and other enthusiasts can peek in and witness the magic of the human brain.

We hope you will enjoy benefiting from the gallery as much as Prof. Nowinski enjoyed creating it for you.
